Who We Are
Heels and Hearts is a diabetes advocacy organization at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Our mission is for our members to…
- Connect with students with diabetes
- Connect with resources to navigate diabetes in college
- Serve as mentors to youth with diabetes and their families in the greater Chapel Hill community
We’ve compiled a list of info sources to support UNC students with diabetes while you’re here.
High school students with diabetes – or the family member of one – can connect with UNC diabetes mentors.
Whether you’re an incoming student with diabetes concerned about managing blood sugars away from home, an established student looking to connect with others who know what it’s like to have diabetes, or even if you have a friend or loved one with diabetes in college who you want to support, get involved with us!
Heels and Hearts is a chapter of the national College Diabetes Network and meets monthly to talk about tips for general self-care for students with diabetes, learn about new technology available for people with diabetes (PWD), socialize with others who know what “bolus” means, and come together for community service opportunities.
